Salt and Pepper Prawns (Gluten-Free)

Here is my quick, easy and gluten-free salt and pepper prawn recipe!

For this recipe all you need is a bag of large prawns or shrimp, the bigger, the better and the juicier, 3 tbsp corn flour - 2 tbsp plain gluten-free flour -50-70ml plant milk - couple pinches of salt and pepper (to taste) - pinch of paprika -  sliced chillies - chilli flakes (to taste,) - fresh or dry parsley - garlic granules - green/spring onions if you have any to garnish, (I had run out) and oil for frying.



1 Bag of large Prawns or Shrimp

3tbsp Cornflour

2tbsp Plain gluten-free flour

50-70ml Oat Milk (or plant milk of your choice)

Himilayan Salt (to taste)

Black Pepper (to taste)

Pinch of Paprika


Chilli Flakes (to taste)

Parsley ( fresh or dry)

Garlic granules (to garnish)

Green spring onions (to garnish)

Oil (for frying)



Add the flours into a bowl and mix till both combined, add salt and pepper, mix in and then add the plant milk, I used oat. Almond, coconut etc works just as well. You'll get a thick sticky batter. Pour in the prawns and coat thoroughly. Let it rest then heat up oil, enough to deep fry. Once oil is hot enough add the prawns in one by one for approximately 3-4 mins (e.g 2 mins on each side), remove and place in a bowl of paper kitchen towels to drain off any excess oil.


Finally garnish with garlic granules, sliced chillies, fresh or dry parsley and chilli flakes before serving.
